Hello everyone. I'm a newbie here and I wanted to really learn a lot more in this one. I would want to ask if there are some good or easy ways to learn poker for beginners like me? I wanted to really learn quickly and understand the strategies in order to really make things work out. I just hope for a response in here. Thanks!

I think the best way to start is to read some "classical" books. You can find some here: http://pokercrack.com/forums/23-Poker-Books-Videos-VODs-and-Software
And then, when you will have a lot of questions - just post them here and I'm sure you will get the professional answers.

Good luck!

Hi Haleylawrence i was watching a poker show last week and the same question was given to a very good poker pro.His reply was if you want to improve you have to work hard at poker. He said that this involves reading books, watching coaching videos and replaying hands after you have played a session of poker.

He suggested that for every three hours you play then you should study for an hour,i am finding this a bit difficult to do as i want to play more, let us know how you get on in your poker journey.

Hello I am a beginner as well and I am playing Android Poker for fun on a real money poker room.

After how long should I start paying for real money rather than for fun?

I will check the books you recommended, but I was wondering, when do you really feel sure about playing for real money?
And what do you think about Mobile poker?

Cheers

Once you have a basic understanding of how to play a particular game and what to do, playing for play money can really be counterproductive. People do not play the way they would in a real game since they are not risking anything. I'd suggest playing for very small stakes, even micro $0.02-$0.04 games, as soon as you think you understand the game. You may lose often in the beginning but at least you'll be getting more realistic experience. Another alternative is to play freeroll tournaments. While most people still play much looser than they would in real tournaments or cash games, most play a little better than in play money games.

That website is not in English, so other members who's not from Lithuania can't understand what it says in it lol.

Here is a blog written by a member of this forum. The blog is really helpful and should answer your questions.

I think he wont to say that you first need to read about poker startegy and other stuff, not a zynga guide lol.

i was a complete noob at cash games, decided i wanted to learn how to play. i found a couple guides online that got me started, and watched some videos.
someone sent me a link for the Leakbuster free trial, and i have to say that it is one of the biggest things that has helped me. I had a ton of leaks when i first started
with it, but now have it down to just a few that i'm trying to get worked out. i'd suggest for anyone trying to learn to play cash games, and probably even for some
more advanced players. the training content in it is pretty good

i think it is Pokerleakbuster.com

maybe just google it to be sure. They have a free trial, but since there is alot of training content, i don't think it shows too much.
but you should be able to do some database analysis.

if you end up trying it, let me know. i would be curious to hear what you thought. I've had it for a while, so if you have a question i might
be able to help you figure it out.

It is impossible.

Sorry but that is the truth. In order to really learn the game you need to lose, and the reality of poker is, you will lose alot of money.

However, approaching the game to "minimize your losses" can spread these losses out over time so it won;t hurt as much.

I strongly recommend (as others have) starting to play online, but you have to realize that if you play for free, you won't be getting the real poker experience. It is a different game when money is on the line. I would recommend starting to play for free, while you read, read, read. But when you play for free, don't play to win, play to learn the strategy that your books are telling you to play, and make yourself become disciplined in those tactics.

Once you have those beginning tactics down, put real money online and play very low limit games, again following the strategy.

The only way you will learn this game properly is to be extremely disciplined until you learn the subtleties of the game. But keep in mind that as you get better and try new things you WILL lose money until you become experienced enough to execute more experienced techniques.

Good luck

You can look up for some freeroll tournaments. That's also a good way to practise you skills, plus if you get lucky you can earn some money :D.

BingoHouse has nice tutorial about poker games, besides they offer free games that help you to learn poker faster- there is no better way to learn how to play poker then by practicing it.

There was a game Texas Hold'em Poker I think that gave you very quick, but fully understandable tutorial on how to play poker. Most of the things I know are from that game. It is a bit childish, but it is very good for novice players with no expirience.
